Pekanbaru - Kopertis Region X holds a Curriculum Development Workshop for 76 participants who are permanent lecturers from social and economic sciences of Swastadi Higher Education Province of Riau and Riau Islands (27-29 April 2018).

Shown as resource person for curriculum development of social and economic science field Prof. Zainal Arifin Hasibuan, Ph.D from the University of Indonesia Computer Science Faculty, Dessy Aliandrina, Ph.D., and Heru Wijayanto from Surya University.

Prof. Zainal A. Hasibuan said the shift in the 21st century educational paradigm was the impact of the development of significant communications technology in the Digital era.

According to him, learning is usually done in the classroom, now can be done in free space (e-learning). Likewise with teaching materials that were previously printed material into digital material that is easily accessible anywhere and anytime. This is a challenge for educators to produce competing graduates who are ready to compete in a global society in the era of Industrial Revolution 4.0.

Meanwhile, Dessy Aliandrina, Ph.D explained that Indonesia has entered the era of Industrial Revolution 4.0 which has an impact on education. Learning by Activities learning method is expected to be applied lecturer in curriculum development.

"Learning by Activities aims to produce students who have skills such as Critical Thinking, Creativity, and Problem Solving that can be applied to everyday life, especially when they graduate," said Dessy.

Learning by Activities does not cost a lot (Low Cost). Lecturers are expected to be able to find topics in the surrounding environment related to the field of science that they ampu. This is a win-win solution for students and lecturers in implementing Learning by Activities in their learning.

"The advantage is for students they can identify problems, analyze, and find solutions to the problem. As for lecturers, the method will benefit lecturers in achieving Tri Dharma Perguruan Tinggi, "he explained.

Head of Academic and Student Section Ely Susanti, SE, MM said that the Curriculum Development Workshop is expected that each lecturer can develop their curriculum by making innovation and exploring the potential of students deeper in order to survive the era of Industrial Revolution 4.0.
